wonders of the world

The Hanging Gardens of Babylon

Nebuchadnezzar the son of  Hammurab the king of the Babylonian kingdom. is the one how built hanging gardens of babylon. he built it to please his sick wife and duaghter.the garden consists of vaulted terraces raised one above another, and resting upon cube-shaped pillars.

Statue of Zeus

In ancient times the Greek city states used to play games every 4 years. This is what is now called as Olympic games. During those times truce is declared and wars are stopped. Players and athletes from all over the places traveled to a place in Greece called Peloponnesus. These Olympic games were started during 776 BC. These Olympic games were held in honour of their King of gods, Zeus. He is also known as God of Jupiter. so they built the statu of Zeus. the location of the statu is in Olympia the ancient Greek city.

Colossus of Rhodes

This is a statue of the Sun god, Helios. On the Island of Rhodes 3 cities Ialysos, Kamiros and Lindos formed a unified city with their capital as Rhodes. This statue was located in the Harbor of the Mediterranean island and the island of Rhodes is located at the Southwestern tip of the Asia Minor, where the Aegean sea meets the Mediterranean. The construction took 12 years .During the earthquake at about 226 BC, thec Colossus of Rhodes (statue) was damaged and fell down. When they planned to rebuild it, an  Oracle said the city will face disaster if this statue is rebuilt. That was the final chapter to the story of this wonder of the world

Temple of Artemis

This was first built during 800 BC near the river at Ephesus. then it destroyed and rebuild again. The God Artemis in Ephesus is a goddess of night, fruitfulness, childbirth, beasts, bull and is an eternal virgin. This is located on the west coast of Turkey, south of Selcuk county.

Mausoleum at Halicarnassus

This Mausoleum was built in memory and as a burial tomb for the King Mausolus. it was built by his wife Artemisia also she is his sisterThis Wonder of the World, is located in the city of Bodrum, on the Aegan sea, in south-west Turkey. This is actually closer to the ancient tample of artimes

Light House of Alexandria

This lighthouse was built around 280 BC and was around 134 m in height. This was built in the city of Alexandria.
The light house had a good mirror which can reflect the sun light to a very long distance.  also the mirro was used to burn enemy's ships.
This lighthouse was so popular that the word Pharos came into French, Spanish and Italian to mean lighthouse. its located in the harbor of the city of Alexandria in Egypt.

The great pyrimdes in Giza

Egypt is a place any one would like to go for a vacation.one of the most preferred place tovisit would be the largest pyramids in the world. its considered one of the wonders of the world. the location of the pyramids are about 10 miles west of Cairo.

The greenhouses gases effect

Global warming is a huge problem in our world these days. There are several causes of global warming that harms our beautiful earth. In this essay I’m going to write down one of the main causes of global warming giving some problems and solution about it.

Global warming is a change in the earth’s climate. The main cause is the greenhouse effect and this causes the temperature to rise. The progress is by trapping the sun’s heat and light in the earth atmosphere. This is like when heat is trapped in a car. On a very hot day, the car gets hotter when it is out in the parking lot. This is because the heat and light from the sun can get into the car, by going through the windows, but can’t get back out. This what greenhouse effect does to the earth. The gases which cause this effect are carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide. However the main gas that causes this problem is carbon dioxide it’s produced by factories, car, and cutting down trees. With the increase of population more food is needed were more factories are built. Also another reason to produce CO2 being used in vehicles. fossil fuels are used to produce electricity. Burning these fossil fuels releases billions of tons of carbon dioxide into the air every year.” Ed. John T. Tanacredi and John Loret” and more houses are built by cutting the only source of absorbing CO2 which is trees. If people increase in producing gases it will give a huge problem for the earth, such as more severe floods and droughts, increasing prevalence of insects, sea levels rising, and Earth's precipitation may be redistributed.“MSU Physics and Astronomy Department”. Also it will causes negative effect on society such us diseases and decreasing economic development.

On the other hand there are solutions for global warming .We can use the renewable energy that has zero carbon emotion like solar, wend, and others. Also the government should stop cutting trees and fine anyone who cuts down trees. Reduce using transportation and start walking so that we don’t burn a lot of CO2. Also reduce building factories because of burring gases and stop using coal as source of heat. We should also use technology which doesn’t causes greenhouse effect and try to stop anything that causes this problem We also should start thinking of ways that we can stop the global warming so that our children can have a happy life.

In conclusion, we should stop destroying our beautiful earth and think about making it place were we can live with out harmful causes. We can control the global warming only if we control our lives. I believe what Al Gore said in his presentation because a feel the rises in temperature. We should think about our children’s future, we want them to live in a clean and unharmed earth.

COOL CITIES ARE PRACTICAL? YES OR NO

Masdar is the largest project in Abu Dhabi it’s a city where it’s free of carbon, zero-west and car free. So the footprint number of Abu Dhabi could reduce. However, this type of project isn’t practical. I’m going to write down the 2 reason why its not practical

The first reason is that masdar is build only for a population of 47500 people. There around 4.104,695 people live in the UAE , so this want fit all of them. Therefore they should increase the capacity of the population but its difficult because there are no more good areas to build and it is impossible to destroy a city and build another one.

The second reason is that the cost of building this kind of cool cites. Masdar costs about $22 billion. This kind of many can be presented most of all countries but not the poor ones. Also that one cool city is not enough for on country they should build more were they will pay double the price. Were this many can build more than one project to reduce the CO2 problem in the world rather than cool cites.

It’s great to have a city like Masdar were air is clean of carbon, but it costs a lot and the capacity isn’t enough for everyone. Whereas building of a cool city is enough to solve the problem of carbon in the world

Carbon Footprint

Carbon footprint is the total amount of greenhouse gases produce by human activates. In this essay, I will show you a way to calculate the level of your carbon footprint.

I have visited two website to calculate my footprint and they are footprint.wwf.org.uk and heroesofuae.com and this is down by some logical questions about the use of things around you. I found out my footprint average and I’m causing what is equal to 1.68 planets, this show that I’m causing some of emotions in the earth.

I have compared my results with some of my friends in class and I have found out that I’m 2nd least one between my friends. Moh’d Abdullah’s his average is 26.8 which makes him the highest one between us. Following him Abood 2.28, then me with average of 1.68 and the least one is sultan with an average of 1.48. This shows us that different people have different ways of using things around us. In the future I would compare with other people around the world.

To sum up, I believe it’s time to reduce using unimportant things. We have to close the lights every time we leave our room and we have to use our cars when we have to otherwise we suppose to use another way to travel.

An Inconvenient Truth

Al Gore presents the crisis that hits our earth which is the global worming. There are problems that we have already faced and there are some more in the future. I’m going to write down the argument on the An Inconvenient Truth.

First the disagreement on this film. A writer was forced to watch it. He wrote that Al Gore characters in the film were the Earth, Al Gore, and the Apple G4 Powerbook. The technology that he used to display the slide was a apple G4 Powerbook , “. Apple must have agreed to sponsor Al Gore’s entire life for the amount of footage there is of Al staring intensely at his laptop, with the glowing Apple insignia present in each of these shots”( Zack Furness). Second Al Gore look was serious and he gave a heavy tone when he talked about his life in the farm, the near death of his son , politic and smoking is bad. From all of this it didn’t show any connection between the this and the global warming.

However there are some agreed arguments about this movie. Al Gore explained every crisis that my causes by the global warming.” He stands on a stage before a vast screen, in front of an audience” (ROGER EBERT) he was like an alarm that wakes you up showing you what is happing to the earth. He provides proves of global warming, the hurricane, warm waters and the rise of carbon dioxide. Also a proof that human are causing the global warming by burning fossil fuels. “I believe that to be "impartial" and "balanced" on global warming means one must take a position like Gore's” ( Roger Ebert).

In my opinion, I like the ideas of Al Gore and the way he stands In front of million of people talking about the global warming he took the place of an alarm that wakes up people telling them them to take care of their earth before destruction of the earth. Also this movie can be played in school so that the children of the coming generation can be aware of what is happening to the earth.

Introduction To Global Warming

One of the main problems facing the world is global warming. Many scientists believe that the earth temperature is rising from this crisis it caused a lot of damage to this world. with the rise of the temperature icecaps are starting to melt down causing rising in the ocean were some floods happen and this causes damages to some lands. The rise of temperate is done by our own hands, from the factories that burn thing were heat comes out of the exhaust. . A final factor is that weather fluctuations. There are many changes in the world temperature because of the earth quakes. To solve this solutions first is to read and learn about the environment and try to stop making things that will affect our environment. Second is that to save some electricity by reducing the use of machines, by to stop using cars and start using bikes and walking when you can.
